Freckles Brown

Freckles Brown

Music Genre: Delphi Music / Northwest Americana

Olympia's Freckles Brown Band came together in the spring of 2008 with a different vision. The members, all of them veteran performers, envisioned a band that would be different than the many good, but largely interchangeable bands that already play the south Puget Sound music circuit. The name, Freckles Brown, commemorates the legendary songwriter, performer, and colorful character that grew up in the scenic Delphi Valley in southwest Thurston County.
Freckles Brown believes that good music should be fun to play as well as to listen to. Their set list includes such timeless songs as "Buckwheat", Zydeco’s version of "Hey Baby", an updated version of Hank William’s "Move It On Over", and of Bo Didley’s "Hey Hey, Good Lookin’". They perform a mix of contemporary Rock, Country, Blues, Americana, R&B, Latin, and Motown tunes, so be prepared to dance to anything from rumba to rock. Freckles Brown doesn’t hide behind loud volume, rather they blend their instrumentation and solid vocal harmonies so that you can enjoy every nuance of the music. Freckles Brown also writes and performs their own unique blend of original music that they call the Delphi Sound, this to promote a long and rich heritage of music from Olympia's Delphi Valley area. This music has received a great reception at all of their performances.
Freckles Brown joined Northwest Rock & Roll legends Merillee Rush, George Barner, the Fleetwoods, Kent Morrill (lead singer of The Wailers), and others for a benefit concert for Lewis County flood victims. They collaborated with South Sound rock legend George Barner in a video music project scheduled for release in October, 2008, and are releasing their first album this year.
