Fred received his first guitar at age 14 from his Aunt Marie Brown, wife of the legendary Delphi musician, Freckles Brown. Surrounded by a family of musicians it was only natural for young Fred to follow suit. At age 15, he received his first paycheck for playing his guitar and since then has entertained thousands. Fred has performed and shared the stage with great artists such as Dove Award Winner Carolyn Arends, World Class Violinist Larry Murphy, Rock & Roll Legend Merrilee Rush, and many others. He has also written over 300 songs, some which have been aired in radio stations around the world. Fred's mission is to perform songs that will move people to the dance floor and to make sure that they know that they had a good time when its time to go home.

At the age of twelve, Mark began to borrow his brother's guitar and bought a book on guitar theory. One year later he purchased his first guitar, a used Silvertone with a Heathkit amplifier. In high school he joined the school jazz band and formed a Chicago-style rock band that eventually placed second in the state regional battle of the bands. Attending college at Duke University he joined a jazz band, and later became interested in both country western and bluegrass music and learned to play banjo. Moving to Olympia in 1978, he played bass and banjo in the Stony Point bluegrass band and later joined the Smokey River band featuring popular country-western artist Tommy Denton. Missing his rock and roll roots, he founded and performed with The Ragged Edge classic and contemporary rock band from November 2001 through 2008.

John credits his mother for his musical skills, making him suffer through childhood taking accordion lessons. Inspired by the Beatles and the fact that girls took notice of him while he played his accordion, John came to realize that music was something special. He picked up a $5 pawn shop guitar and a cheap horn in 1966 and played in the marching band at a military academy in College Station, Texas. Exchanging guitar licks outside of bus stations in Houston and south Texas, John developed a passion for Southern Blues and developed his vocal skills. After paying his dues in garage bands, John served as a song leader for a local Christian church and later formed a band in which he wrote and performed original songs. After touring as a guitar player for Gladys Whitney with a hit Nashville song, John left the group to spend time with his family. In 2000 John and Fred Doughty met and formed a strong friendship. They began writing music together and in 2007 formed The Freckles Brown Band. John is a multi-talented musician and believes that music is one of the most valuable gifts that life offers. "It’s all about fun and everyone should have fun, those who play and those who listen."
